ABOUT CHRIS COURTENAY
WHERE'S HE FROM, THEN?
I grew up by the sea in Folkestone, Kent, where I developed my love of theatre through going to the local repertory theatre (the Arthur Brough Players, and then the Charles Vance) and appearing in school plays. I continued acting as a student at Cambridge and then London universities. Cambridge contemporaries included Simon Russell-Beale, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson and Tony Slattery - though it was only Tony that I acted with. After a long break from acting, including a spell teaching English in Sicily and working in publishing in London, I took up professional drama training first at Morley College and then the ArtsEd.
